Winona-Ryder

Winona Ryder is the professionally-known name given to Winona Laura Hoowitz who was born in Winona Minnesota. Her parents named their daughter the city she grew up in after her birthplace. Her father Michel Horowitz, and mother Cynthia Palmer are authors and editors. Ryder is a self-described Jewish, is descended from Ryder's Jewish father. Uria is Ryder's younger brother. Jubal, Sunyata and Sunyata are the half siblings of Ryder. Ryder as well as her entire family relocated to Mendocino, California, when Ryder was seven. At the time, there were no electric lights. Ryder was a consummate reader and spent her time reading books because she had no television. Ryder started taking classes in acting at the American Conservatory Theatre in 1983, when she was 12. Lucas was let go in 1986. Ryder, who was barely 15 years old, landed the role of a leading actor. Ryder had to deal with bullying throughout her time in high school. Ryder believed that if she became an actor, her behavior was going to be corrected. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Still, she pursued her dreams. Beetlejuice the 1988 Tim Burton film, was her first major break. Ryder was able to continue her successful characters in numerous films. She was nominated for two Academy Awards one for her performance in The Age of Innocence (1993).
